I was on my way from school today, when i watched this particular music video. It’s Invincible by Muse. It’s a song about unity, freedom and strength. While the song itself tells a wonderful story, it is the video that truly brings out it’s essence.
As they travelled through a theme park type ride, they witness the very things that have made our history. The dinosaurs, the evolution of humanity, the building of the pyramids, the coliseum, wars, the invention of the steam engine, up til the construction of the very skyscrapers and cities we live in today. It showed the long incredible journey of mankind, from such a simple cell, to something so extraordinary and complex.
Then, death appears. Teddy bears, usually symbols of love and care, had glowing red eyes, and start rising up from the ground and left only destruction in their wake. As cheesy as it sounds , UFO were simply commiting mass genocide, vaporising crowds of people. Just as the world seems to spiral into chaos, all humans from the different eras, be it Romans, Egyptians, even dinosaurs, they start fighting back, defeating these monsters.
We, as a race, have been through so much irony . We have caused so much death through wars, but yet we are able to build the most majestic of structures. We learn how to save lives, but at the same time we discover new ways to take away one.
No doubt, we are one of the most violent sentient beings around. We fight wars, we kill, and peace lives only as a temporary illusion.Yes, there is so much difference in the world, but if we could just leave all this violent past behind us, could we make this world a better place? There is no doubt, we are capable of amazing things. If we can build something as great as the pyramids, who is to say we can find a solution to world peace? As the song says , could we be truly invincible?Sometimes I ask myself, must it take a common threat to finally unite the world? Questions I can only ask, but not answer. Only time will tell.

PS, Sorry for this little emo styled post, I just felt like sharing some burning thoughts.
